Dear PHES Parents,

October is a very busy month at PHES. We will recognize TWO national themed weeks this month. Our first focus is Bully Prevention Week. The label BULLY is often misused. Please see the definitions below: * When someone says or does something “unintentionally” hurtful and they do it once, that’s RUDE. * When someone says or does something “intentionally” hurtful and they do it once, that’s MEAN. * When someone says or does something INTENTIONALLY hurtful and they KEEP DOING IT even when you tell them to stop or show them that you’re upset- that’s BULLYING! I am proud to say that Pearl Haskew Elementary has minimum bullying happening at our school. Our students and staff are committed to having a “BULLY PROOF SCHOOL”! Therefore, for Bully Prevention Week, we are making our theme “FRIENDSHIP MATTERS”! For the week of October 10th -13th we will focus on INTENTIONALLY showing acts of FRIENDSHIP throughout the week!

We owe big thanks this month to everyone who helped with the Career Fair! We had OVER 30 businesses who participated. Thank you to Lifesouth for donating the bags, Cracker Barrel and Lickin’ Good Donuts for donating the breakfast, and our wonderful PTO for ensuring everyone stayed hydrated that day! A special thank you to Jaye Industrial for donating the Yeti’s for our raffle and Mrs. Catron for a special monetary donation to help our uniform closet remain stocked! Thank you for all that you do to continue to support our school!
