The Beginning of Pearl Haskew

The Mobile County School Board voted in 2004 to build a new school in southern Mobile County to alleviate the overcrowded conditions at St. Elmo, Meadowlake, and Nan Gray Davis Schools. Construction began in December, 2004 on the school, with the capacity to serve 600 students.

Groundbreaking Ceremony

The School Board voted to name the school "Pearl Haskew Elementary School" in honor of Pearl Golden Haskew, a visionary teacher and leader in elementary and secondary schools of Mobile County for 37 years.

Mrs. Haskew views school construction in December, 2004.

After many long months,

the school was declared FINISHED,

and teachers and staff spent their Spring Break

getting everything ready.

On Monday, April 24, 2006,

teachers and students at the three different sites

boarded thirteen school buses and arrived together,

excited and happy, to finally be home!
